To clarify, that thing in my mouth is NOT a cigarette. It is a reed.
I need to moisten it up every time I put my instrument together

Few-Sill-Odd
We’re coming up on the one-year anniversary of this band’s existence and although I've remained relatively quiet throughout that time, I finally put my foot down to release this body of work that everyone in the band feels proud of. Although most of you that know me and the members of the band would label us as “jazz musicians,” that term doesn’t accurately describe our creative output up to this point, which in my case takes a profound influence from Post Bop, Afrofuturism, Conscious Hip Hop, IDM and Film Scores.
This might sound cliche as all heck but there wasn’t really an “original concept” for the record. I just wanted to run in judgement free and see what came out from a writing, recording and producing standpoint. What I thought would be a 6ish month experiment ended up eating through my mental bandwidth for an entire year.
It felt nearly impossible to keep my mind focused on one specific overarching task in the year 2024. Least to say, this year was fucked up. For a lot of us. Especially from a gen-z westerner point of view. There was a lot to pay attention to, a lot of surprising revelations, and a lot to get angry about. To those of you that don’t know, the term Fusillade in a literal sense comes from war, meaning a barrage of gunshots, missiles or cannons in rapid succession. In a metaphorical sense, it could be a barrage of anything in rapid succession. In my case a barrage of ideas and questions that penetrated my own mind in order to find some real answers to my anger and confusion. We seem to exist in an environment that’s constantly falling apart and/or tearing itself apart on purpose, and we’re all just trying to find some semblance of truth in an era of lies. So these ideas that were circling through my head, some of which were way more abstract than others, ended up forming the bedrock of this project, and we plan to expand on these ideas in future projects through the lens of anti-establishment protest music. But for now “Few-Sill-Odd” embodies the apprehension, comfort, bizarreness, enigmatic feelings and thoughts that defined the year 2024.
It’s my absolute favorite word in the dictionary, which is why I want to claim it and redefine its use. And after a year of constant distraction, confusion, and anxiety for my first release as an artist, this is the result of my initial experiment. Just two tracks, “Few-Sill-Odd” is unapologetically itself. It runs 7 minutes in length and you can purchase it for only $4.

So much love to everyone involved on this project, especially to the band. To Jacob Smith on drums, Aidan McCarthy on bass, Josh Beck on keys, and Robbie Heyde on guitar (and co-production), y’all NEVER phone in and it shows. I find myself constantly admiring y’alls artistic voices and work ethic and am really happy we can call each other brothers in this music. Same goes for Travian who CARRIES the opening track and redefines it with his own unique flow and ideas. He’s up next and y’all just aren’t ready.
SHOUTOUT to my recording engineer Jack Reilly, mixing engineer Adam Enzi Ives and cover artist Santiago Diaz. Without you guys this dream of mine would not have come into fruition.
